Embattled hiplife artiste Kwaw Kese has
bemoaned the sleeping conditions in prison,
describing them as “crazy”.
The rapper who was released from remand at
the Kumasi Central Prison on Tuesday December
30, 2014 told Starr Drive host Bola Ray,
Wednesday, he is happy to be out on bail.
‘Abodam’ who was incarcerated on November 22,
2014 and subsequently charged for publicly
smoking weed, took ill and was on admission at
the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH)
prior to his bail.
Speaking in that revealing interview, the rapper
intimated no one deserved to live under such
appalling conditions in the prisons.
“Bolas!” he exclaimed, “we were 74 in a [cell] …
like a normal single room with 74 people in there
and you know, you don’t [get] to sleep on the
bed.
You have to sit on the floor”.
According to him, there are two ways of getting
some rest, “We have the monkey sleeping, we
have the rich people sleeping and with the
monkey sleeping, it’s like you sleep on the floor
with your, with your …. I don’t know. I wish we
were on TV for me to demonstrate. Some people
stand and sleep all night and they’ve done that
for a couple of years and it's crazy,” he said
with disappointment in his voice.
He challenged Bola Ray to “imagine 74 people in
a single room. You just imagine that.”
Kwaw Kese is due back in court on February 5
when hearing on his case is expected to begin.
