LOUIS AGYEMANG NAMED AMONG WORST EVER FLOPS IN PSL

KickOff .com’ s Lovemore Moyo is counting
down the 30 worst foreign strikers to
grace these shores in the PSL era – and
at number 23 is former Kaizer Chiefs man
Louis Agyemang .

Agyemang was recruited by Ernst
Middendorp in 2005 after having worked
with him at Hearts of Oak in Ghana .
The German coach is actually said to have
converted Agyemang from a defender to
a striker during their time at Hearts of
Oak prior to their reunion at Chiefs .
It was clearly evident Agyemang had a
football brain as he had a decent touch
on him and some clever runs.
However, he will not be remembered as a
success story at Chiefs despite netting
nine goals during his first season at the
club when he was Middendorp’s preferred
striker .
Agyemang led the attack during
Amakhosi ’s infamous season of draws
(2005- 06 ) , starting 23 games, coming on
as substitute in another 10 games, and
scoring four league goals and another five
in cup games.
He led a blunt attack that had Songwe
Chalwe , Serge Djiehoua, Kaizer Motaung
Jnr and David Radebe.
His second season was awful as he looked
lethargic and failed to score in the four
games that he started (plus eight
substitute appearances ) before he was
transfer- listed.
The fact that no other PSL club took him
up – as is normally the case for any
player discarded by Chiefs – says
something.
Surely , the likes of Moroka Swallows, Free
State Stars and Maritzburg United should
offer you a contract after your time at
Chiefs but alas he was ignored by every
club .
First Division side Dynamos was the only
club that then found reason to snap him
up at the beginning of the 2007- 08
season . where he lasted a season.
He has since played for Asante Kotoko ,
Medeama SC and current club Asanti Gold
