Caf has named Zambian referee Janny Sikazwe to
handle the quarter-finals match involving Ghana
and Guinea on February 1, Goal Ghana can reveal.
The Kapiri Mposhi native will be assisted by Evarist
Menkouande from Cameroon and Waleed Ahmed Ali
from Sudan at the Estadio de Malabo Sunday.
Ghana topped Group C with six points ahead of
Algeria with the head-to-head rule and will play
Guinea who placed second at the expense of Mali.
Sikazwe is not new to Ghanaians as he was the
fourth referee when the west African giants
defeated South Africa 2-1 in Mongomo in their
last group game. He also officiated the semi-finals
involving Ghana and Nigeria in the 2014 CHAN
tournament in South Africa which ended 0-0 but
Ghana won 4-1 on penalties.
Sikazwe has officiated only one game in the
ongoing Africa Cup of Nations involving Mali and
Cameroon which ended in a goalless draw. He has
shown 159 yellow cards and eight red cards from
his 45 international matches for Caf and FIFA.
The last time he showed a red in an international
match was against Ghana's Kwabena Adusei in the
CHAN semis. He has awarded eight penalties in his
entire international career with an average of four
yellow cards per game.
The winner of the Ghana - Guinea will face the
winner of Tunisia and Equatorial Guinea in the
Semi-finals.
