claims striker Charles Taylor rejected European
offers due to a Volkswagen Golf car promised him
by Kotoko.
The long-standing Hearts scribe has been reacting
to accusations the club thwarted the career of
their ex-star.
Taylor has consistently blamed the club’s hierarchy
for his career decline, accusing some supporters of
using black magic ‘juju’ against him during his
short-time at their sworn rivals Asante Kotoko.
The 33-year-old also accused the club of rejecting
offers from St. Gallen, Grasshoppers and Brescia
during his peak – a move he claims sparked all his
woes.
But the General Manager of the Social Security
and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), has rebuffed
the allegations, claiming he rejected the offers
due to a Volkswagen Golf car promised him by
Kotoko.
“Football players often have a tendency to blame
people for their bad decisions in life. At the time
he was leaving for Kotoko, there was a lady in town
who wanted to take him to, I believe its Israel but
he refused to take opportunities because Kotoko
promised him Golf,” Thompson told Happy FM.
Taylor has struggled with injuries over the last
couple of years but says he’s now fully fit to
return to the pitch.
He has stints with Berekum Chelsea, Etoile du
Sahel and Enugu Rangers.
