Ex-Hearts of Oak and Black Stars forward Don Bortey has advised young and upcoming footballers to desist from getting quick money.
According to the experience winger, financial gains in football are inconsistent and that players must not dwell much on the monetary gains of the game too much.
He added that if players over concentrate on the monetary aspect of the game, they can be frustrated if the money aspect is thwarted.
“We are in the sport to look for money but football monies are on and off. You can be promised and that promise will not be fulfilled so if you concentrate too much on it, it can frustrate you,” Don Bortey said.
“They should rather focus on playing their best for their clubs and the best conditions will come for them,” Bortey told Nhyira FM.
Bortey was part of Hearts of Oak team that won the maiden edition of the CAF Confederation Cup in 2004.
