Egypt’s return to their favourite competition is imminent. The Pharaohs drew one and won one of their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualification ties against Nigeria.

Also in Group F, Libya stayed alive for a runners-up spot with a 4-0 win over Sao Tome in Cairo. They had suffered a humbling loss, to the minnows, in the away match.

Algeria scored 10 goals in two matches against Ethiopia. Despite a 7-1 win in Blida, the Desert Foxes have to wait at least one more matchday to qualify.

The 2017 Africa Cup of Nations resumes, for the penultimate round, on the weekend of 3-5 June, 2016.
