Abuakwa North Member of Parliament, Samuel
Atta Kyea, says a decision by an Accra High
Court to quash a suit against the Ghana
National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) will be
appealed.
The commercial division of the Accra Fast Track
High Court dismissed an injunction application
brought before it by three MPs seeking to stop
the GNPC from securing a $700 million dollar
loan.
Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei
and Samuel Atta Akyea prayed the court to
direct the GNPC to suspend any transactions
relating to the procurement of the loan, at least
until hearing of the substantive case is
concluded.
The plea was however not taken by presiding
judge, Justice Mrs. A Bartels-Kodwo.
This decision, the Abuakwa North MP said, does
not mark the end to their case stressing that
the legislators would take steps to challenge the
court ruling.
“We believe that the grounds upon which our
case was thrown out was not that strong and
hence we are meeting our lawyers to take
measures to challenge the decision in an
appropriate forum…,” he told Adom News’ Obiri
Yeboah in an interview.
